Marissa is a multidisciplinary designer based in
New York City.
With roots grounded in design for stage and live performance, Marissa mixes the mediums of stage and film to provide a visual dialogue in support of the actors and director's vision.
Each process includes deep exploration into materials that create an environment, this in turn allows for a rumination of truth and authenticity stunningly unique to each collaboration.
Marissa holds a B.F.A in scenic design from Sargent Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University. Recently, Marissa earned her M.F.A in set and production design at
Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.
In the summer of 2023, Marissa passed the union exam and joined Local 829.

AN IN PROGRESS DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
When people ask what my design style is, I never know what to say. With consideration to my biases, I strive to allow the text to illuminate to me what the design must be. I do not fancy myself an artist, but a crucial reactionary collaborator. I revel in the sculpting and distilation of the rules and regulations of the univerese we get to create, where truly anything is possible. I am uninterested in trends, I trust the script to lead us to beauty, and if the item does not support the story, I refuse to allow it into the design.
